All because I wanted to hide the MySpace blog.

I just wanted to hide the part of the MySpace page that links to the blog there. I don’t blog there (obviously), and though I don’t even link to this blog from there (my baby sisters are linked to me on there, and I’d rather not have them randomly clicking over to this), I wanted to make that part of the page just not appear, rather than have it look as though I don’t have anything to say.

Many hours later (when there are a hundred other things I should have been doing), after discovering a tutorial on how to completely customize a MySpace profile, and I have a new MySpace page that I actually kind of like.

Mel's MySpace Profile

You know, I realize there are lots of bad things about MySpace (lots and lots), but I have to admit that I think the positives tend to outweigh the negatives. For finding old friends it’s been indispensable (every few weeks someone pops up that I haven’t seen or talked to in years), and I can actually almost keep in touch with people because of it. I’m not there to hook up, and I don’t get into the friend whoring bit. Every friend except for one that I’ve got on there (not counting the bands) are actual real life friends or acquaintances, and I feel like I know him in real life by proxy. I tried to ignore the power of MySpace for a long time (I’ve had an account for almost 2 years, but hadn’t actually done anything with the profile until a few months ago.) - but I can no longer live in denial. I am a MySpace junkie. Dammit.

So when do you add me as a myspace friend???

That skews my “in real life” friend thing, but you’re pretty close. I probably know you better than some of the people I know in real life… (though I’ve not been on in forever).

The request has been sent! (And you are a popular man…)

Hmm. I might have to give up my ‘in real life’ thing… if anyone else who reads this wants to add, feel free. :)

I have thus far managed to stay out of MySpace . I am already a comment addict and one adiction is enough.

    It’s simply wretched, isn’t it?

But oh, what a way to waste time at work! And, what a way to meet cute boys from Idaho with about as many emotions as the tuber their state is so famous for.

    Yeah.

Jaclyn… I detect a slight hint of bitterness there. Just a tiny bit.

I can’t even imagine what I’d be using MySpace for if I was single. So many cute boys about… it’s nice eye candy though. (Like I don’t get enough of that at work!)

    And MissJ - I have, I have. It’s inescapable.

I have no part in the myspace fetish - actually, now that I think of it, I guess I wouldn’t care to “reconnect” with anyone from my past anyway, and friends from the present are usually in the surrounding areas anyway.

I don’t unnerstan MySpace, and I don’t wanna join JUST to find out and get sucked in.

Jay - I know I’m weird with my wanting to reconnect thing, and I know some people don’t appreciate it. But I can’t help it. It’s part of who I am.

JOAT - Resist as long as you can dearie. Because it can get dangerous, especially for someone who’s as much of a flirt as you are. ;)

That’s the first myspace redesign profile page that doesn’t make me want to stab my own eyes out. It actually looks nice, and functional, and pleasing!

Why thank you Darby. That was indeed what I was going for, and I do appreciate the compliment.

If knew how to code, I would actually spend some time coding a generator to come up with the code for that sort of a look. Mainly because I think the reason so many of the MySpace profiles are so bad is that people generally only have generators to work with that were made by 15 year olds. Fifteen year olds have no taste. (No, I didn’t either. That’s been established though, thank you.)

Alas, I do not know how to code that well, so, the world will have to wait for someone else to spend time doing it.

Until then, MySpace will be a world of fuschia sparkles and lime green borders. (Actually, a lot of it would still be that, I’m sure.)

so do you have the code to hide the blog?
the only codes i can find to hide blogs hide my extended network too and i don’t want that. if you have the link please send it to my email xtheusedxmcr@aol.com or my myspace http://www.myspace.com/l_i_a_n_n_a

lianna - There is no such “code” that I know of. The link in this post will take you to a tutorial to overlay the entire MySpace page, but I wasn’t able to find a way to hide just the blog part. Good luck.
